“Our kids could not be near each other without World War III breaking out. My oldest daughter, who was 13 years old suffered from Misophonia for years. I knew how she felt because I too had dealt with low grade noise sensitivities for a long time. For her it was so much worse. She had to wear noise cancelling headphones most of the time when she was at home and she could not eat dinner or hang out with us, ever. How does ADHD affect Kids in School?
Jim (not his real name to protect his privacy) had been struggling with ADHD and Anxiety for a long time. He was never diagnosed with ADHD as child, but it was always difficult for him to follow directions in the classroom and stay on track with the rest of the class. As he got older things got worse. As each day went on at school, he could feel himself get exhausted and frustrated. Never mind having to do homework when he got home. He just couldn’t keep up.
Then Jim graduated from high school after a great deal of struggle. Accordingly, he squeaked his way through college in a similar fashion. He was waiting for his difficulties to go away but they kept getting worse. What he noticed the most was that he felt more stressed out than ever and was developing anxiety all the time.
How Do ADHD and Anxiety Go Together?
Jim didn’t know what I know, this is a classic way that ADHD develops for many people into adulthood. That is if they don’t take care of the underlying brain pattern that is causing it. ADHD is the use of too much slow brain speed. If you use this pattern across days, months, and years your brain will self-compensate for the slowness and start using too much extra fast brain speed to keep up. It is like if you were using the brake while you were driving, you would have to push the gas pedal harder to move and go anywhere. Unfortunately, this trashes the engine. Jim had a qEEG Brain Map performed and it was easy to see he was using the ADHD pattern.
This is exactly what is happening in the brain. But, back to Jim.

Jim started with Neurofeedback and began to feel more relaxed at work and at home. He felt noticeably better after his sessions and the feeling began to stick around as he had more and more sessions. He was better able to organize his days to get his work done before he left to go home. This helped to bring his stress down. Jim was really excited about the changes he was feeling and he decided to add Home Neurofeedback into his routine. What Home Neurofeedback allowed him to do was to have a tool to rewire his brain himself on the days he was not coming into the office. This helped him feel and perform better even faster than he was already.

“I wanted to let you know that Marco did fabulously well at Nina’s birthday party last Saturday. He had a Brain map and worked with a Neurofeedback doctor. He used Neurofeedback to help improve his focus and decrease his stress and went on to “Growing up, I had to take the medication my whole life,” said Kaman, who said he grew so frustrated taking the medication that he would come home from school and cry. “I can’t take back time. I wish I could. But I can’t. It really bothered me to take the medication every day. I felt I had to take the medication to make me feel like a regular person. It was kind of backward.”
